On your flash scroller, I really like it. Do you know how I would add a scrollbar underneath it to add a second way to scroll the main movieclip?

Also, do you know what code would I use to pull this swf into another movie, or is there a good tutorial you know of that would show me how to do this?

yomiento,
Yes it’s possible but there need to be made some modifications on the code. That’s why you’ll need to send me an PM containing an archive with your files and I’ll make the modifications and after that send it back to you.

kamikaz479,
If you decrease it back to 15 still doesn’t appears?
If not send me a PM to discuss.

Love the tools, I got this image scroller and having a problem I am hoping you can help with. Some of the galleries are kind of large, 900 thumbnails, and I have a preloader value set to 20, but it still wont show anything till everything loads, hoping I am just doing something wrong

The price for the new Image Scroller would be $12. So if you are interested to buy it you’ll need to pay the upgrade price (difference price – in other words $7).
Please allow us a few days to make some adjuments in order to make sure that everything works.
We’ll send you an mail once it’s published.

Create a new Symbol (Ctrl + F8). At the name write for example “imgScroller”. Make sure that the type is Movie Clip. If not chose it from the drop down list.
Next create a second layer. The first layer would be the one you use to put something that will appear above the scroller.
In the second layer select the first frame and drag&drop the MovieClip you created it (“imgGall”). Then give it an instance name for example “scroller”.
After that press F9 and write the follwing line of code.

loadMovie(“image scroller xml.swf”, scroller);

It will be an update. We will take in consideration the fact that you bought the Image Scroller XML, so if you decide to buy the new Image Scroller that we’ll release all you’ll have to pay is the update price.
Also I want to mention that you can achieve the automatic scroll effect with Dock Menu FX.
For example if you go to this link and choose images2.xml from properties and set the value of autoScroll to true you’ll see that you have this effect.
So you decide if you want to pay the difference for the update that will come for Image Scroller or buy the Dock Menu FX.

Thanks for your reply to the auto scroll issue. You’d mentioned you’d be coming out with a new version in 2-3 days, will this be a new product or an upgrade… given the fact I just bought this a few days ago, would I be able to exchange it for the newer version or do I need to purchase it again?

To make it scroll automatically it would need a lot of modifications of the AS2 code which is found in the main FLA.
But I want to say that in 2-3 days we’ll realease a fresh new version of Image Scroller (created with AS3), more exactly a FX version which comes with a lot of customizable properties and new features.

Hi Snowcat. I’ve just purchased your great script and it all works fine when it’s standalone, but I am trying to incorporate it into an SWF using loadMovie function and of course, the entire set of images appears because the movie clip is set to the stage width of the parent. Tried masking the MC holder clip but then the scrolling doesn’t work. Any ideas please?

Hi, you’ll have do double-click the “description_text” symbol in the Library (Ctrl+L), select the empty text field on the Stage, and then go to Properties window (Ctrl+F3). In there you will find all the properties of the text, including color.

The second request cannot yet be accomplished, as the specified functionality is not yet implemented. I’m working on a new Image Scroller with many other options, to which you’ll have the possibility to upgrade.

Hi,

That is in fact pretty simple. Just draw a rectangle on the stage with the Rectangle Tool® (there is already a rectangle drawn on the stage in the FLA file from the commercial archive), then select it with the Selection Tool (V), then go to Color panel (Shift+F9) and select Linear or Radial for type and use your own colors.

Hi Snowcat,

Love the scroller and I think it will work quite nicely on my page. Here is a TEST page of it: http://signedpage.com/test/index.html

As you can see, the book covers are just dark enough fade into the black background I want. Not good. I’d like to put a gradient running downward from black to a gray to black again to help the covers stand out, but I can’t figure out how to add such a gradient with Flash.

Any ideas? I obviously know how to change solid covers, as I changed your original background to black. But the gradient is beyond me, I am afraid.

Thanks in advance for your help!

ilanchico, unfortunately I cannot help you with particular customizations. I have provided basic instructions on how to use and modify my files at this address
