  • Avoid this component – I bought this component, carefully read the included (terribly written) instructions, and wasted many hours trying to configure the menu to my project. I have used Flash for many years, and found that even at my Flash knowledge level, I couldn’t get this menu configured the way I needed. I then emailed the component’s creator, Oxylus, and also posted on creator’s forum, to ask how he configured multiple driven by different XML files in his sample. Oxylus’s “Razvan” replied to say that he would need to charge me a consulting fee to answer the question. My question was only about how he had done something in his already-created sample .fla file. I think it is incredibly unreasonable for him to expect extra money to answer a simple question like that, about work he has already done but not documented. (On his forum, I replied that I thought his demand for more money was unfair, and he simply deleted my entire thread. I wonder if he’ll delete this too?) The component does come with an instructions readme file, but the instructions are horribly written in broken English, and were basically no help at all. Again, this complaint is coming from someone who as used Flash for many years. I recommend that you not waste your money and time on this component, and find another component instead. (I later bought “Vertical Menu XML” by Cesgra, and found the documentation in that component to be excellent and easy to follow. So my project ended up with Cesgra’s menu instead.)

    Hello,

If indeed what you are saying happened, I will make inquiries and talk to Razvan about this issue. Our normal policy is to help as much as time permits us, however in some cases if it can’t be explained easily the only option is to offer custom work. Loading different xml files for different menus is easy, just go through the .as files, search for “.xml” and you’ll see what you need to change. You can then for ex. compile two .swf files with different xml and just include them in your project. This should be quite basic if you used flash for so long. There are more optimal ways of doing this but they require more in-depth skills.

We are also planning a revamping of our help material which is usually good enough for most but we’ve had some messages from less technical users which lead us to believe it would be a good idea to make them a bit more detailed.

You should also keep in mind that whatever support and help we offer that is not related to bugfixes is is not our obligation and it only shows we try to help as much as time allows us.

    Cheers,
    Octav

PS : Where did you purchase the menu from, you don’t show up as a buyer ?
