  • Anyone notice that the players quit working on IE8 with the latest version of flash? Adobe just released a critical update to deal with a serious security risk. After updating my Windows Vista machine to this newest version of Flash, the players are replaced by a "get flash" box. This is undesirable. It works fine on my Macs with the current version of Flash. The preview shown here is also affected by this problem: http://www.flashcomponents.net/component/flv_h.264_video_players_pack.html

Has anyone found a workaround for this?

  • @stanweatherby Well, the preview looks fine from all three machines I have in front. I have IE8 as well, with the latest update of Flash Player. Of course, this is a local machine issue and since noone else has noticed it, neither can we see it, we can’t pinpoint it. Please provide more details about what system you are running. Also, please provide a link to your site on private, perhaps we can have a look. Best regards

  • Hi!
I very like this player and i wanna buy it. But first I’m wondering if its possible too put photos in, as well?. I’ve got gallery with mix of videos and photos.

And i just wondering what exactly mining of commercial license. Because in first license is written down: for “personal and client project”- if i use your component in some me freelance job i have to buy a regular or commercial license?

    Thanks for respond.

    #  /  posted on Sep 16, 2009
  • @lech.kqa It only plays videos, either flv’s or, for the other extensions – H.264 encoded. You can use a normal license if you need the player for one single project, even if you do it for one of your clients. Think like this: if you want to make from the player a constant source of revenue (either by reselling it without the sources or use it in multiple projects), you need a comercial license.

  • This FLV player is awesome. The interface is clean. The playlist is cool. I think i will try this player later. Now I’m using playerdiy.com , which offers 44 easy ways to customize the FLV player skin – http://www.playerdiy.com/configuration/

  • @flyinpc Thank you for the kind words. This player II however has: – 27 options – 70 color settings, grouped according to the player’s elements – 11 video settings – 3 backlink options.

All these are contained in an easy-to-access and edit settings.xml file that comes with the player.

  • @lnsrikanth It is not supported. The following update is too close to implement. For the next one it is an excellent idea, thank you.

  • I am looking for a player with alittle automation as far as the playlist goes.

Is there anyway you can set it up to read video files directly from a folder, and the thumbs can be named the same as the video and pull it up automatically as well???

    #  /  posted on Oct 07, 2009
  • @Zaphien Do you mean you want the player to be capable of renaming the folders and the files on your server? This is not possible, nor recommended. Instead, you can generate the settings.xml dynamically , and with it, create the playlist automatically (of course, only after you have the video files with the corresponding names in the designated location)

  • I can’t seem to get your player to play anything thing. .mp4 files, .Mov files, not even .flv files….

    #  /  posted on Oct 12, 2009
  • @Zaphieon – The player plays all kind of files that Flash Player supports! I can’t know what you are doing wrong if you don’t give us a link or a file that you trying to play. Anyway, the players comes with a mov file and it needs to work. Please note that mp4 and mov videos needs to be encoded with H.264 (video) and AAC.

  • Re-encoding a video now

    .Mov H.264, MP2/4(ACC)

I will see if this plays.

and about the autoplaylist info I was talking about.. No, I don’t want the player to rename files/folders.

I want it to scan specified folder(s)

find the Movie file, then the Image files with the same name as the movie file and add it to the playlist.

  • @Zaphieon The player does not scan a folder structure. It parses a xml file instead. When you bought the player, it came with a sample mov file, correctly encoded and working at the same quality as you can see it here in the live samples. It plays MP4, M4V, M4A, MOV, Mp4v, F4V, FLV files, all if they are H.264 encoded. The flv’s are the only ones that do not need to be H.264 encoded. If you do not manage to make it work, please send a link to your site (on private), so we can have a look.

  • got it all set up and working now, even with a php file for the settings, so I can auto load videos from a folder.

  • @Zaphieon Excellent. Can you sent a link on private to your site, so we can have a look as well? Thanks for buying, of course.

  • Hello,
I just purchased your FLV/H.264 Video Player II for use in my Flash based website.
I wanted to as for your assistance with getting the player working on my site.

I’m working in Flash CS4, so I opened up videoPlayer(Flash CS4).fla file in the “Source” folder to have a look at it.

I need to place this player within my flash site, on a content page, so I copied the Library folder ::Video Player:: into my website project library in flash CS4, then dragged an instance of “VideoPlayer” onto my page.
I also copied the contents of the “Deploy” folder (apart from the html pages) into my website project folder, as I assume they would be needed, as well as the “net” folder in the “sources” folder.

I don’t know if that’s correct, but I compiled my flash site to test it and I received no compile errors, so I figured I must be on the right track!

So, on my compiled version, I can see the player, but nothings working. The buttons are in place but not active. I see no video in the video window and no preview pics.

I’m fairly new to flash, so maybe I’m missing something obvious.
What elements from what directories need to be in my site’s root folder?
Any assistance you could provide would be very much appreciated!

  • @chris I have also responded you on private. There are several ways to embed a swf into another one. Here is one such way detailed:

    1. Open your site’s main fla. Create an empty movieclip named mc1 on a separated layer on your main fla.
    2. Give it an instance name using the properties bar below (name it mc1 as well)
    3. Add the following code on the same frame where you put the empty movieclip:
    stop();
    mc1.loadMovie(“videoPlayer.swf?settingsFile=settings.xml”);
    4. Copy the entire content of the deploy folder you received when you bought the player and paste it in the same directory where your site’s main fla is.
    5. Compile your site.

Note: don’t worry if it seems it doesn’t take the xml when you compile. It can only take it when in browser.

  • Cheers FlashXpert. I’ve almost got it working inside my Flash site, but I only get audio (no video or thumbnail pics) on playback.
I’ve sent you a private message. I look forward to your response.

    Thanks for your help.

  • The Captions function somehow does not work for me. The xml format works, not the .sub. The player just keep loading and never play. What are the rules/format of the .sub file for the player to read?
