  • dude I just bought this cool file but i cant get it to work properly
    for starters when i preview it the IP message reads “Your IP address is undefined” and i get a “Error submitting comment” message when i try t:o post messages, I get that it may be a paths problem, this is how I’ve written the paths to the files:

    PHP_Manager = “http://mysite.com/mx/sitebuilder/comments/PHP/Manager.php”;
    XML_BlackList = “http://mysite.com/mx/sitebuilder/comments/XML/Blacklist.xml”;
    XML_DataFile_relative_to_swf = “http://mysite.com/mx/sitebuilder/comments/XML/Comments.xml”;
    XML_DataFile_relative_to_php = “http://mysite.com/mx/sitebuilder/comments/XML/Comments.xml”;

    any help would be appreciated.

    thanks

  • Hi duneglow ,
    I have sent you an e-mail with the suggestions.

    Make sure PHP version is or higher.
    Make sure DOM functions are enabled on your server.
    Make sure the comments file is writable : – chmodd it to 777 or – [recommended] Open your FTP address , right click the comments file , select properties and make sure [owner – write] is selected.

    To avoid the path setting confusion, place all your files in one folder.
    PHP_Manager = “Manager.php”;
    XML_BlackList = “Blacklist.xml”;
    XML_DataFile_relative_to_swf = “Comments.xml”;
    XML_DataFile_relative_to_php = “Comments.xml”;

    I hope that was helpful.

    Best Regards

  • Hi Nitrox,

    I have a problem deleting messages.

    For example:
    If I want to delete the comment number “15“, I have to put number “16“ in the url:
    ..../admin.php?action=deleteEntry&dataFile=Comments.xml&entry=*16*

    Could you tell me why?

    Thanks for your cool works!

    Best regards.

  • Sorry roby, it uses functions that are only available in php5.
    You can use a free php5 service to host your files, there are so many nowadays.

  • will this work on yahoo servers?

    #  /  posted on Dec 21, 2008
  • Yes, as long as they don’t display ads, because they interfere with the connection between PHP and SWF files.

  • I bought the item and it doesnt run. Its hosted on a windows server and embedded in an aspx page. When i preview it the IP message reads "Your IP address is undefined" and i get a "Error submitting comment" message when i try to post messages. Does the component run independantly on the page or does it need PHP to actually work. I can live without the admin page.
    Regards
    Chris

  • Yes it does, PHP 5 (5 ) must be installed on your server for the guest book to run properly.

  • Thankyou for the fast reply. I do have PHP 5 installed on the server. It just keeps saying error submitting comment.

  • Also, I have a suggestion for future releases. It would be nice to have an option where any guestbook entries were sent to the admin via email. Simply have a few variable parameters such as email server, email address etc. The email will have several links on it to either delete the entry or block the user too. Once again the website address can be set by the parameters for example “www.mywebsite.com/Guestbook/” “Admin.php?action=deleteEntry&dataFile=Comments.xml&entry=16”.

  • Your problem could be caused by chmodding of the comments file, are you sure it’s set to 777?

    I will try to add this to v2.0 : )

  • The problem was the permissions error. However the IP address is still not visible for some reasons. Can i pay you to implement that feature about the email?

    #  /  posted on Dec 23, 2008
  • downhillchris , as I told you, it’s a simple feature, no need for money…didn’t you receive my e-mail? :S

    Anyway, I sent you the file, check your inbox.
