Hi,
In order to load this into another fla file i convrted it to a movie clip -which worked fine, but when i put it into my movie it only slides to about the 9th image and there is about 20!

please help me resolve this issue – im all out of ideas…

Hi,
That's due to the fact that the gallery is relative to Stage.width
Replace Stage.width everywhere in the code with the width of your gallery

I was wondering when I use this image gallery I am having an issue with my image folder. I use a www folder and in that www folder I already have an image folder called images(all my images for site are in it). When I add the folder demo 2 into the www folder the image gallery will not play it shows a gray box. In the demo folder there is the swf, fla, xml, html and image folder. I have the path correct in dreamweaver its pointing to that demo folder but like I said its just a gray box. If I take out of the demo 2 folder all the files and drop them into the www folder loose then the photogallery plays nicely but then the image folder conflicts with my main image folder already in the www folder. What am I doing wrong? I have tried everything with no luck.
I just wanted you to know I posted a comment about moving the scroll bar from left to right side of photo gallery on another product of yours. Sorry about about the confussion it belong on this product. Just wanted you to know I moved it and it works great. Now if I can figure out the image folder thing I will be peachy.

Hi, you have a great portfolio! I bought image gallery and have 2 questions. How can I remove the hyperlink feature on the big image? I need to load SWF instead of JPGS. These Swfs have buttons and links, how can I allow this?

Laura,
Folders should not conflict in any way. If you already have an images folder in the folder in which you want to place the gallery, just make sure the names of the photos are different.
There is no problem if in the images folders of the gallery there are other photos which you use for other parts of your site.
You just have to be aware of one thing:
1. the HTML file which embeds the SWF file
2. the SWF file
3. the XML file
4. the images folder
1,2,3,4 should be in the same folder
If this still doesn’t work, there’s a problem with the embedding of the SWF file.

To remove the hyperlink on the big image delete this line:
img.onRelease = function () { getURL(urls[currentImage]);}
On the second question, you can load SWF instead of images but you’ll have to set loadSmoothed = false;
And if you want to have those loaded SWFs to have their own functionality you’ll have to delete these to functions:
img.onRollOver = function() {...}
img.onRollOut = function() {...}

Hey Snowcat,
I can’t get images to load. I place them here
xml.load(“images.xml”);
I have the .xml, .html, and .swf file all in the same folder on my server.
I keep getting this error in flash when I try to preview the swf:
“Error opening URL”
Any help would be appreciated.

“Error opening URL” seems like an error when you’re trying to access something that doesn’t exists. Most possible there’s a path problem.
Send me a private message with a more detailed description of what you’re trying to do, but before that try to access the original files from the downloaded archive.

First of all, can I say its a great package at a great price. One problem.
Can you say if the gallery is capable of handling both portrait and landscape images?
I bought this not thinking it wouldn’t be able to be able to, as I’ve never come across a gallery of images which don’t include both portrait and landscape images. So I’m hoping I’ve overlooked something obvious.
I may have posted this question already, but I can’t find it anywhere, so many apologies if there’s been a duplication.

Sorry, I guess I bought the wrong thing. I think after a lot of searching I’ll have to buy a different gallery. Re-reading this, I think says that it doesn’t allow me to mix portrait and landscape:
“You can specify the images and description text through the XML file. The images can have any dimensions, they are automatically resized. They all should have the same dimensions. “
My mistake. Shame, because you did some very nice work.

jondear: although the functionality you requested is not implemented you could actually tweak the gallery to have both landscape and portrait images. The way to do that is to add transparent margins with a photo editor like Photoshop. Basically all the images will have the same square dimensions but the up/down or left/right (for lanscape and portrait respectively) sides of the photo will be transparent. Save the images as PNGs.
It could be a little time consuming but in the end you will achieve what you want.

Hello,
Yes, you can load external images, specify the URL of each image in the XML file (the “image” attribute).
Don’t test it locally (on your computer) – it won’t work, but directly on your webserver.

I purchased your site. love it, but I cant get the coudsBG to play for the back ground. or any other swf back ground to play. also I just purchased image gallery from your acccount, wow that is way different then the web site. I dont know how to get any thing to show up but a empty grey box, ideas?

Hi, i was just wondering, is there a way of having two of these flash gallerys on one page. As i wanted to have two different gallerys on the same page. I think that it is possible but how do you go above achieving this?
Do i have to rewrite all of the rotues for where the files are accessed? i tried editing the html route without success.
Apart from this small question, this is a great image gallery and i think it is worth every bit of money i paid :)

Hello,
You could achieve that by editing the FLA file of one gallery and change this line:
xml.load(“images.xml”);
with
xml.load(“a_different_xml_file.xml”);
So you need to have different XML files for each gallery in which you can specify different image sets for each gallery.

Hi again, i am having trouble editing the ‘.FLA’ file. I am using ‘Flash CS4’ but i cant find a way where i can edit the part which you suggested to change.

Is there some other software i have to use to edit the ‘.FLA’? or is it a hidden code option in the menus of ‘Flash CS4’ i have to click to view the code. Is it even a commard.
As you probably can tell, i am new to all of this information, file types and software; so any help would be very much appreciated.
And one more thing i wasnt sure on, is ‘a_different_xml_file.xml’ as you said to be changed, a new name of a xml or is it a code for use a different xml file. I think that it is the name of the xml file but i wasnt sure as i am new to this type of software, etc.

I tried to do the masking method you advised cvtee, as I have tried loading the image gallery onto my main stage. It worked almost perfectly. The only thing that didnt work was the top detail descripton text. It went blank because of the mask.
I dunno if there’s a fix for this. But if you do, pls let me know.
