I truly think that your new rates sucks... I am with Flash components since a long time, and quit FlashDen because of this very same reason. I am not a big seller, but I was at 48% which was fine to 42%... Can I say that without developers, you won't sell anyhting. Am I the only one thinking that way ?

Well, I'm supposed to be above 42, but I'm at 30%. Only problem is that 30% doesn't even exist. Weird.

I don't like the new rates either ( I was at 53% and will now be going down to 40%). I especially don't like it, because now you have to be either exlusive, or non-exlusive for ALL your files.

me to i was at 52 after such a long time now at 44 :( the rates were good previously :)

Sold 10$ component, recieve 3$, after converting to cash here will recieve almost 1$.

fifty_tons ... the rate of 30% is for non-exclusive authors ... if you are an exclusive author go to your profile page and click on exclusive ... about the rates ... I think it was a reset last year also ...anyway I think FC should send an email to all authors with the new rates and new modifications that were made ...

Why don't you all set your product to "not show" and demand a better rate? This sounds like a rip off to me!
#  /  posted on Jul 07, 2010 -
Yes I not happy with new commissions. I sale just here my all components. This too poor news.

We too consider the rates too small. We don't understand your move and we think many people will switch to searching for other marketplaces. This site was chosen because of the rates: FC grew because many people moved from FlashDen due to the higher rate and the possibility to choose their own price (FC is probably the second Flash marketplace by the number of visitors right now, but I doubt their growth rate will maintain). We selling our video players here since February 2008, we were receiving 60% until now. Do you think it's fair, after 1000+ sales (only 4 components), to drop the revenue to half of what it was and receive 30%?! FC, from what we see here all these comments were written by top sellers and we don't see your position about this. We are all waiting to see your opinion about this.

From last couple of months, I have been thinking and convincing myself, Flash is the future not HTML 5. Now what I am getting is 30% and my host is getting 70% of my hard work. WOW.. one word "I am screwed". What should I do now? Suck Apple balls or start begging [FC] flashComponents.net

@VIP - a newsletter has been sent on June 29 to every author on FC, informing you of these changes. We will soon send a resource that includes all the new/ improved features on FC, along with the other changes. Meanwhile, any questions might you have, please send the support team an e-mail: contact@flashcomponents.net.

Yes ... sorry I think I jump that email ... you are right you have email us all the information about the new rates ... but as other authors on this site I'm not happy with this ... sorry but getting just 30% from our work it is a little low... Regards

Hi, everybody! We understand that this is a big change for all of you, but here's how we see it. Yes, the regular commission rates have changed but, on the other hand, we have added the tutorial commissions (up to +3%), as well as increased the referral commission. You can easily get the 3% by writing a few tutorials every 3 months. Think about it. We have also added a few specialists to our team to help us promote your files better and are investing a lot more in this. We think that now, with the new interface and the improved features, you will all get more exposure for your files, thus more sales. We expect sales to really increase in a couple of months, which will lead to a higher commission rate for you and more money. Please take all this into consideration and be sure we are doing our best not to disappoint you. If you have any questions, please send us an e-mail and we'll answer asap. Thanks! === FC Team===

You are giving us the same crap that flashden gave me. But in the end who loses money and who wins more money ? Not the authors that's for sure, and this is not fair as you are earning more money selling stuff that you never developped. Do you take in consideration our support to the community. I don't how many time I have to explain how my components works (even though there is a complete documentation within the component package). This is time consuming for me, and for 40%, I am not sure that I'm committed to do that. Please put back the old rates, otherwise I will(and probably more developpers will too) change the marketplace.

@WaZz: We respect and understand your point of view, but you should also keep in mind that the decision to invest more in the promotion and exposure of the files will help get more sales, thus increased commission rates long term. We are aware that support is time consuming and we are here to help anyway we can. Hopefully you will consider all this and we will continue to collaborate. You are welcome to send us an e-mail if you have questions or want us to give you more details. Thanks.

Big dumper. FC should ask themselves these 2 questions First: where will Exclusive authors sign up, here or on other websites such as Activeden. And second: why should we choose to go Exclusive at all? I myself gave up on exclusiveness on either website(s) when/because I discovered the accumulated revenue from all the websites together on which I have my items for sale turned out to be more then selling exclusive on any individual website. And remember, there are more websites then just AD and FC, yes there exist other websites with potential and sale .. don't think you are the only two right now and definately not for ever. FC might want to compete or fight for a bigger marketshare, but be careful not to "shoot yourself in the foot". This probably will give some bad vibes, especially within your biggest sellers, and it's definately those which you should keep happy. My thoughts, this will eventually turn out to have been a bad move. My advice, listen to your top authors, keep them happy.

@patrickjansendesign: Are you sure that : "I discovered the accumulated revenue from all the websites together on which I have my items for sale turned out to be more then selling exclusive on any individual website. "
#  /  posted on Jul 08, 2010 -
@aven_qian: Yes, absolutely. It's not even a simple "twice as much" but way way more then that. Why?
#  /  posted on Jul 08, 2010 -
Let me rephrase myself, to avoid confusion ... instead of one unique account with say e.g. ±50% average sale, I've realized net profit is more using AD 25% + FC 30% + personal website + other smaller flash stock websites. It doesn't equal simply splitting the ±50% up in multiple websites. Just to elaborate without going into details, the final % or think of it as net profit is higher, number of sales are higher and gives much more exposure to other items I sell. Anyhow, exclusiveness has become a no-no for me. But if you really want to hear credible opinions, ask bulksellers (like Oxylus) or non-exclusive popular authors their opinions.

:)) aven_quian... just play a little bit with the numbers... what patrickjansendesign said is more then obvious... there are more then 6 potential websites where you can sell your work... and obviously all 6 have their own "devoted" customers ..some of them probably don't even know about the other websites... so they will buy products from there ...
+1 with all the angry ( disappointed) authors here... I had the best income from this site... I struggled to move up to 45% and now 30... so damn cool...
I know you have to invest in advertising, servers, the money you pay for the staff... but this move you made... (even if you say you will spend more money on advertising) was baaaaaad idea.... take care... authors are the ones who are really working for your money..let's say.. "you only enjoy the result of their hard work" and now that you are taking 70(60)% from the recompense they deserve for their work... you become some kind of "thief" don't you think?
Isn't this strange move in relation with the Romanian sales tax increase? /:) (I saw you are sending money from a Romanian "SRL" ) and you say you take more from us to our benefit....
"Give the people what they deserve..."
I'm just saying....

We have warned FC that it was not a very good move in our oppinion and as I can see on this thread we're not the only ones. With FC rates going down from 55% to 30% it is simply not worthwhile anymore.
While it's not *yet* a definite certainty, the chances are Oxylus will be leaving Flash components in the next week or so, this last sudden and almost unannounced change of commission is completely unfair to the authors as well as the buyers who will receive less support and help on their files.
You guys don't realize that many authors might have been relying on the FC income, which you basically halved for your own profit. You don't have the user base, the content or the notoriety of the site you're trying to compete with and all you will accomplish is alienate people and end up only selling the files you yourselves build.
I'm sure we will not be the only ones to leave considering we were the main advocates for non-exclusiveness and now we're the ones actually making this move.
It would have been nice if some of the FC staff actually answered here but to us at least the story is done, not much more left to discuss, we did try to warn you and yet you refused to listen to reason.
Too bad, it's been a nice ride while it lasted.
Cheers,
Octav
PS : none of the non-exclusive authors have anything over 30%, anyone that has more might have selected exclusive by mistake, something you should correct if you don't want to be "fined" or banned by FC :)

The thing I forgot to mention one of the reasons that led us to our decision. Even if the FC staff comes to their senses and change the percentages back to what was agreed to initially by the authors, could we trust them ever again ? Would we be willing to risk other such important changes in policies that directly affect our business ? Unfortunately the answer was "no" across the board. Some of the authors here renounced their exclusivity only to be let down by this major change. We did the math and I'm guessing so do many other authors. You shouldn't have put us in this position.
