I changed the URL in the settings XML with a full length address. I’ve tried both .AVI and .MOV format and it doesn’t load. It loads the default addresses in the XML, but the videos that I upload are not playing.
What am I doing wrong?

I posted previous, never saw my post. Bought the Snowcat Flv player. This is no doubt the best player with all the options I need. My problem is, I have a main.html page, inside it is main.swf on level 0 When that page loads it automatically loads video1.swf on to level 2 using LoadMovienum . I need to know how to change the settings and skin path.xml files as I need to use 8 players in 8 swfs so the paths would be main.swf/video/video1.swf…....then main.swf/video/video2.swf follow? I have to put the settings and skin xml inside the video folder as I will have 8 xml files (one for each player) follow? I’m on a deadline here can you help me please?????

ralphiedee, believe it or not I never used loadMovieNum
What I can suggest you is to put video1.swf, video2.swf, and so on, in different folders each. In the same folder with videoX.swf you will have to put SelectSkin.xml and the skin folder.
To fully understand how the paths of the SWF and other assets the SWF is using work, you have to know that all the paths of these assets must be relative to the SWF path.

Does this player make the videos darker? I tried the JW Player, and it makes all the videos darker for some strange reason.

No, it doesnt make the videos darker. Nobody complained of such behavior at least.

Hello,
I have purchased the video player component, but when i change it to my url it doesn’t work. have tried it with both the extentions .flv & .mov
but when i put your path it works.
what is the problem is there any other extention which i can work on

Hi,
I need to run multiple flv players on the same page. I can only get it to work when I have all the files in the same html folder like in the example. I have made 3 video folders with all the needed files in it swf, xml. How do I tell my html page where to look for a specific player in a another folder.
I’m sure its simple I just cant work it out :(

First try to rename your xml files differently.
Then clear your cache.
Also look into your xml files and see if you put the right path to those videos.

Thanks for the help.
Still the same problem. If I make a folder video1 and put the snowcat_flv.swf, movie.swf and the xml files needed into it, it wont work, it will only work when I have all the files in the same folder as the .html file. I have three seperate movies that need to all be on the one page in there own player.
I’m not sure if i need to change the action script or something else. Basically if someone can tell me how to play a movie not in the same html folder I should be able to work it out. A solution is needed as the project is now running 10 days late. Any help is appreciated.

For my fellow newbies this is how I got multiple players on the one page.
Firstly rename the needed xml files. Changing the XMLrequest.as to match the new files names. Placing the .swf and .flv files in the root folder and making sure the paths to the xml are relative to the snowcat_flv.swf file.
This is the best flv player around in my opinion.

I was about to offer you a solution using flashvars for setting the path for those XML files. I’m glad that you find one. Anyway a better player is under development and soon it will be launched.

When I test the player off line it is fine. But once uploaded, sometimes it will load so the buttons are not visable. Also the screen has a play icon in the middle which if pressed shows the movie in an enlarged format. I have set the movie resolution to 320 × 240. I have changed the resolution only in the skin 1 settings xml file.

Make sure you set the width and the height in your HTML file of the embbeded SWF. As for buttons should not be problems, try to put the settings.xml file in the same directory with your HTML file.

In your archive you’ll find a folder called net. Enter in this folder, and double click on snowcat folder, after that on ui folder. In the ui folder you’ll find XMLrequest.as

When I put 3 Videos on one html page – do I haveto change something in each .fla as well? Because changing only the XMLrequest.as is not enough I think. Can you help me?

I purchased the player and it’s great!
I want to be able to advance the videos without using the button on the skin. Is there a way of creating a button ‘off to the side’ of the player to advance to another video?

Can I use your player by to play videos from a database.
e.g. if I have a list of videos in my database and all the video’s are located in one folder, the user selects one of the videos and you player plays that video.
At the moment all I can see is that I have to have a set of files for each video, which will take up a lot of space on my server if I have a lot of videos to show.
Can this be done?
