  • Hi, I am doing some academic research on Flash and I would like to find what is Flash the most used for, or what it is the best at, in designing web sites. I would need some quantitative figures, charts, stats to illustrate this research. I have found many websites presenting the Flash player penetration but I am looking at the actual use of Flash (in video, animation, User Interaction, ...). For example, "96% of the video on the web is displayed with Flash (3% JS, 1% HTML5 video tag, ...)" ; or "80% of advertisement banners/web-based games are created with Flash".

I posted a similar topic on Adobe forums and I am looking for some more answers. The most interesting stuff I have found so far was: http://www.adobe.com/choice/flash.html presents some general statistics on Flash, is very interesting, but it would be even more interesting to access the source studies from Alexa, comscore, etc ; unfortunately I could not find them.

so I am desperately begging: does any one have any information to share on that subject "what Flash is the most used for (e-commerce websites? games? advertisement? video streaming?)", its share of the market in each of those categories, etc? Thanks, Jeremie
