Hello Jim,
Besides posting here I see you contacted FlashComponents telling this product is not really what it claims to be. "Very easy to use and set" is indeed. You need a basic Flash knowledge to do that. And this is what this site is selling, products which open and edit with Flash. You really don't need to be an expert to apply a mask. There are lots of tutorials out there which shows you how to apply a mask in case you didn't know what you were buying. The most basic tutorial which shows you how to apply a mask shouldn't have more than 3 steps.
The Actionscript code sample you referred is indeed a simple example for those who have a basic Actionscript knowledge, but again, you really don't need Actionscript to apply masks. The example is for those who better like making use of code instead of apply masks on the timeline.

evilnom: instructions on how to use the masks collection would be similar with a tutorial on how to apply masks in Flash
jcarruth: from the lengths of your messages so far (on the forum, private message and FC staff) I can only read your frustration. I'm sorry it got personal, but the last thing I'm capable of is arrogance. Please send me a private message with your paypal address and I'll personally send you a full refund of your purchase. You should've said that from the beginning and it would've been all right.
I strongly believe you didn't knew what you were buying. Any kind of personal suggestion I really don't think has a place in here.
I don't think you can prove anything with your website (as with any of your arguments - which I really don't have time to comment), as applying a mask is one of the simplest things to do in Flash.
A more practical approach would've saved both of us a lot of time
Regards,
Snowcat

Snowcat,
Sorry you took it personally. I have found in general programmers to be arrogant when it comes to newbies - ALL OF THEM, not just you. So how could you take that personally? Plus you'd rather give me my money back than bother with instructing me - another clue. But that's OK. I guess I knew that already. I just hoped for better from you, I don't suppose I know why. So much for your claim of "full support for the purchased products." Where's your Flash Passion now? How about just a little tiny bit of support, that's all I ask. One example that works. Take you five minutes.
I did do the masks tutorials out of the Flash CS3 Bible and it starts off with WHITE and reveals the photo underneath. In the sample file I sent you, I simply asked you to alter this so that it starts off with the 1st photo, then reveals the 2nd photo. No tutorial shows me how to do this, and you won't either, so now I really am stuck. Now you can see how frustrated I am and why (and where the attitude comes from). If the tutorials really showed me how to do this, do you think I would be bothering you? Don't you think I tried the tutorials first? Again, with the assumptions.
If it's such a simple thing, how come you won't take 5 minutes and fix the file I sent you to show me how to do this? I'm just asking for one simple transition to work from one photo to another - not go from white to the photo, as the tutorials show me how to do. So again, maybe it's not so simple as you state. If you can show me a tutorial that would show me how to do this, fine. But they don't. Mask tutorials show you how to use a mask as a reveal on, not a transition from one image to another. But I guess you don't know this. You just assume the tutorial shows you how to do this. Well, they don't. You just assume they do, but you're wrong because you haven't really checked, have you?
The other thing you're getting here is valuable feedback on how frustrating it is for newbies to do simple things, ALONG with the lack of documentation and assumption of expertise. I would think this feedback would help you make a better product, and that you would be interested in hearing it. This is my assumption and I apologize for it. It has become clear to me that you don't want to hear any feedback, because you take it all personally. This is a shame. You could have gotten something valuable out of this exchange and instead simply chose to slough it off. Your loss. Sometimes getting things right is not the most practical and expedient way. Don't change things when you don't need to. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? How the world would be different if we all listened to each other.

Hello,
I just bought the transition effects and working fine...
I'm just wondering how to apply 90/180/270 rotation just like the one you showed in the sample.
Thanks

Hi,
If you're applying masks manually, then you'll have to manually rotate & resize the mask on the stage.
Otherwise, I have provided an example in the .FLA file.
If the mask is loaded into let's say mask1 movieclip, then the rotation is given by the _rotation attribute, like this:
mask1._rotation = 180;

I like the demo of your product. I am by no means a flash pro, but I dabble alot. If there is a tutorial or some basic noob-proof instructions, I'd love a link to it.
Thanks

How come I can’t get this to work on .asp pages?
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you!

Snowcat,
Like a couple of the other users, I too am struggling to use your example file. I can reveal a photo by applying the mask but cannot start with one photo and reveal another without a good knowledge of Action Script. My Flash level in other areas is reasonably good.
I notice from the forum that other people have asked similar questions yet your responses have been fairly terse and don’t address the issue. Rather than labour the point I have contacted the website to get m money back and will not be using you or this website again..
Thanks, Rupes

rupes, you don’t need a good knowledge of ActionScript to use the masks, but a basic one.
I just created a video tutorial showing how to use the masks with multiple images without ActionScript.
If you’re not happy with your purchase, I can send you a full refund.

I have to say I am disappointed with this.
I wanted an effect where I could set up a looped series of random images with transitions either through a dialogue box or by tweaking the actionscript settings.
What I seem to have is some mask movie clips that I have to work out myself and a sample movie that appears to be the code for your demo ?? Plus there are no instructions other than the very basic video tutorial showing how to put two images together.
A lesson in reading through the comments first.

peter, this is how the description of this product starts:
“This is an useful set of 30 masks for your image transition.”
So in here there are only masks.
If you’re not happy, I’m not happy, so I’d be glad to personally refund your purchase. You might consider Banner Rotator FX component to acquire what you just said. It has lot’s of options and it’s extremely flexible.
Send me a private message to discuss this.

I know, as I said I should have read it more carefully. I bought the whole set so will look through the other modules to see. Not looking for a refund – I am using it anyway.
Thanks for the reponse

Ok… wow. I’m not happy either. The way this is worded I thought I was buying a image rotations gallery that was an easy set up. I have a deadline to meet and now this is going to cost me more to go buy the right thing.
I suggest you make this more clear as I can see many here are having the same issue. Is there any way I can get credit for the other purchase I will have to make now?

I have changed the description of this product, and added this line:
“To be able to use these masks, you’ll have to know how to apply masks in Flash. “
Warpig, send me a private message if you want to exchange this product with another one.

I’m 50:50 on this one. I downloaded it without reading the comments and within a few minutes still didn’t have it working (then read the comments, at which point i thought i’d wasted my money). But having thought about it logically, and even with my limited skills on masks, it’s quite straightforward.

Hey, I was wondering if you can use these effects to sets of previously created swfs. Thanks for your response.
#  /  posted on Nov 22, 2009 -
Yes it’s possible.
You’ll need to create in your FLA file a new Symbol (Ctrl + F8) in your library (Ctrl + L) for each SWF file. And after that export them for actionsript with the name for example: image1.
To load SWF files into the Symbols you created, you’ll need to write the follwing code in the Actions panel (F9) in each of the Symbol (double click to open it):
clip = createEmptyMovieClip("clip", 2);clip.loadMovie("swf_File_Name.swf");

Hi,
How do I use these transitions without clicking on each effect so it can work like Autoplay. It play by itself.
Please let me know.
Thank you in Advance.

Hi,
Sorry for the moment we’re not avaible to create this update.
We’re kind of busy to release some fresh new components as soon as possible.
Maybe in the feature we’ll release an update that has this feature implemented too.
