Hi, I love the possibilities of this XML site header, but since being a newbie, don't know how to upload this to my server.
I have updated the 2 .xml files with my images and uploaded them. I have uploaded the .swf file.
Where and what code do I use to reference these files so that my file (which is my own .index.html file - my homepage) looks for the .swf file and the adds.xml and transitions.xml. Do I need to change my own css file?
What coding do I use in my html file?
Do I need to alter the .swf or the .fla files?
Is there some more help for the non-technical users like me? thanks, Marianne

Hello, And thank you for using my component.. First of all you have to embed the flash in your html. You can do this by copying the code from my index. html from. This is the code between < script > and < / noscript > . Also you have to copy the 2 line under title tag from the head section. Then you have to copy the swf, the xml files and AC_RunActiveContent.js to the server in the same place where your index.html file is. Also you have to copy the pictures used. Put them in the correct place so they will respect the path from the adds.xml file. To avoid any issues accessing these resources (pictures /swfs) you can put in the xml the full paths like http://www.domainname.com/flash_content/picture.jpg.
You don't need to change your css files or edit the fla file.
Please mail me if i can help you with anything else.
Kind regards, Bogdan

Thanks Bogdan for your answer. Am I able to add my xml files and swf file to a file called, 'support-files' and then link it somehow or does it need to be in the same location as the index.html file? Thanks, Marianne

Hi Marianne,
I don't understand exactly your question? do you want to add the flash file on different html pages? (have the same flash but with other content?)

Hello, Thanks again for your reply.
My problem is that with my server, I can only upload my xml files and swf file to a folder called 'support-files' which is not my root file. My index.html file is in the root file.
I have altered the code to 'support-files/banner.swf' . My question is - do I need to alter code in my index file to the path where my xml files are. I am not sure how those files get found and whether it is a problem thatf they are not in the root file where the html file is.
I hope that makes sense. Thanks for your quick replies. Marianne

Marianne, I made a little change at my component so please download it again. The change was done in the embed html code, you can see it in my index.html. Practically now you are able to send the 2 xml files as parameters from html to flash so you can put the file wherever you want. In your situation i recommend you to use everywhere full paths, not just support-files but http://www.domainname.com/support-files/ in the html code. If you are using my method to embed the flash there are 4 places where the flash is refferenced and where you should add the xml parameters. please see my files. I also recommend you to use the full paths for the pictures used, as well.
