  • Hi westweb. First please verify that the swf file and the xml file are in the same place. If you insert the swf file in a html place note that you will have to have the swf and the xml in the same place where is the html file. And finally please verify that “<mapcolor def_color= “0xEEDA93” empty_color=“0xF7EECD” over_color = “0xDFB935”/> ” you have this line of code. If you have any problems please contact me.

  • i figured it out! the data.xml file it came with had a default over_color=”“ value that was causing the problem. also, i was trying to pull the *.html file as an include. instead, i just iframed the map and it worked. (could i put the *.html into an asp file and pull it as an include?)

fyi: it’s as easy to implement as the author has stated. thumbs up!

  • Glad to hear that you manage to fix it. Sorry I haven’t tried to implement in asp file so I don’t know if it will work.

  • Where is “Washington DC” on the map?

    #  /  posted on Aug 27, 2009
  • Hi adamx12m,

As you can see. On top left you will see there “WA” . If you rollover it will say “Washington” . Also here is a picture in case my instructions are unclear

  • This map looks great. Can I shade different states in different colors (three or more) and have rollover effects for all of them? Something like this:

    http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2009/07/15/business/economy/20090715-leonhardt-graphic.html?ref=multimedia

(I mean a basic rollover not, the embedded charts!)

  • Hi Jeff,

This map has the option only to set the colors for all the buttons and not for individual buttons. For now you can change the stage color, the roll over color and the empty color. About the roll over effect: this can be done but on the current map this setting is not available. If you want to have specific colors for every state it can be done. If you are interested in a private project please contact me at isbiceanu_cornel@yahoo.com

  • Thanks for the speedy reply. It looks like I would be able to expand the number of categories to three (or more), turn on rollovers for each, and apply different colors accordingly. Would that work?

  • I need an absolute path to the xml file is this feasible? I have changed the location in the fla to http://thelocation.com/data.xml but I am getting no love. my other option would be to somehow compile this without the xml into a static movie. Suggestions?

    Thanks!

  • Hi frankleeruggles,

Well let me understand. You have problem loading the xml path . Right? I suggest that you use a flash variable or parameter to set the path. If you need help please let me know and I will send you the files with the changes. My email address is isbiceanu_cornel@yahoo.com.

  • Hi Cornel,

I really need to set the color of each state independently; I saw in a previous post that you said this was possible, but how do you do it? Yours is the 2nd map control I’ve bought thinking it would do this, I can’t keep buying map controls :-(

  • Hi Cornel -
I read the posts before I purchased this about being able to change the color of each independent state, which is what I need to do as well, however I cannot figure out how to do it.  I re-read and it looks like you sent the solution to Chuck.  Can you send it to me as well?

    Thanks so much!
