Hello,
Can this player read data from dynamic xml returned by a servlet? My requirement is that when my servlet returns data in HttpServletResponse in the form of xml containing video thumbnails and streaming URLs, can this player read that xml and dynamically build its playlist and stream video?

This component can read FlashVars. There's an example in the package on how it works. Basically you have to change the following line: var flashvars = { xmlpath : "xml/custom.xml",} with your generated xml

Hello! I bought this component but when I try to open the fla file in my Flash 9.0 (CS3) for MAC it says that it is unable to open the file. Is there a reason for it? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

I interested in removing youtube logo. But, this example you wrote uses PHP to gain main movie path from youtube podcast.
So, it can be done. But, you need to run PHP on your site.

I want to import the player in a facebook fanpage. Now it seems impossible to import the xml file from an external server because facebook doesn't allow javascript to import with flashvars. I tried also to change the path directly in the customvideoplayer.as like this:
var $path:String = String(this.stage.loaderInfo.parameters["xmlpath"]);
if ($path == "undefined" || $path == "null" ) { $path = "http://server.com/xml/custom.xml"; }Doesn't worked either. Is it possible to import the xml file this way? I'm glad to hear from you.

getting an parsing error when I use an external link.
Error #2044: ioError unverarbeitet. text=Error #2032: Stream-Fehler. URL: http://server.com/xml/custom.xml at firecode::CustomVideoPlayer/Init() at flash.display::Sprite/constructChildren() at flash.display::Sprite() at flash.display::MovieClip()
only: "xml/custom.xml" for example works

I've narrowed it down to the url's in the xml. If I change out the youtube address that works (http://www.youtube.com/v/VT0cvfyl0RI) which you have in there with my youtube address in just one video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GIXESEjfqo
it stops the whole thing from working?! HELP

@maryacallahan: The API provided by youtube to read youtube links doesn't'work like in a browser. The correct path is: http://www.youtube.com/v/7GIXESEjfqo ( the link you provided in your question )
For your second question: Just leave one category, doesn't matter the name of it ( you can leave it blank ) and you'll see just the "Playlist " tag
