Yes, you can add effect to photos as long as you create a path for the particle engine to follow.

How do I change the color of the particles? For example, the particles on the 4th button (Christmas tree b4) has green color. How do I change the color of the particles from green to yellow? Where should I go?

Never mind, I just found out how to do this. In hover 4 movieclip editing mode, clicked the emitter (particle emitter) movie clip instance, then changed the 'magic colors' component parameter value. Also changed the Glow Color property of the hover4 movieclip instance on the main timeline in the FILTERS pane. Thanks for the cool particle path button, Patrick Jensen design,
