Sample 1 - autoScroll with scrollbar, blur and Strong easing.

The Vertical Scroller Slideshow displays multiple images(jpg, png, gif or swf ) that can be scrolled automatically or via a scrollbar. When scrolled manually, the scroller auto-snaps to the closest image. Each image has a link that opens when you click on it. Images and links are configured through an XML file.

Updated on 25/03/08 with these new features:
* Now supports multiple images per screen (see sample 3)
* Auto-snap is now optional

Features:
* Resizable
* Auto scroll (optional) with adjustable scroll speed, and pause time
* Auto snaps to the closest image when scrolling. You can adjust the snapping speed.
* Blur when scrolling (optional) with adjustable blur amount
* Scrollbar (optional)
* Easing. You choose your easing type: Back, Bounce, Elastic, Regular, Strong, None
* Set a link for each image. Links can open in current window or a new window
* Displays jpg, gif, transparent png or swfs with animation. They are centred and displayed at their original size.
* Use flashVars to specifiy the xml location so you can have multiple instances on the one page with different configurations
* No need to open the flash file. Everything is configured via XML.

Very good work!

Need some help though.

Im loading the slideshow swf externally into another swf using loadMovie…it works fine on the first load, however when i re visit the page (So for instance if i visit another page, then go back to the slide show page) everything starts to glitch out? It scrolls faster, and seems to randomly switch to different images at various speeds!!

It’s as if it is changing/doubling up the variables of the xml file…

Any ideas of why it would work a treat initially, then break down? Is there anything i can add to the code that will totally re-initialize everything on each load, as if it’s loading for the first time?

Hope you can help! Will keep working at this in the mean time…

Cheers.

Hello Nellie,

If you could help me out here i would greatly appreciate it. Im trying to integrate this into site that was already built but its just not working out properly. I would like to get your help or get a refund on my purchase seeing that how it was explained made it seem like it was plug and play and u just edit the xml. But its more to it than that. So are you able to do either one? Thanks

Hi,

If it works with the sample xml, then i’d say there is some error in your xml file and you should have a careful look through that.

If you don’t want links on the images then you’ll need to edit the file as i has been designed to have links for each image.

If you’re using swfobject, that could cause some problems also.

Kind regards,
Nellie

Okay… it isn’t working and

I’ve never gotten a response yet…

When viewing in the Overview section… Scrollbars and NO PHOTOS

If you use the Samples links, which open a new window, it works fine.

What is going on?

I need a horizontal scroller, TODAY, but am not buying Nellie’s if I do not get an answer.

Have to get one today….

Okay… playing around… dumped all my cache/stored items and it seems to be working…. any idea why it would do this to a PC and Mac at the same time?

Just keep thinking it’s cookie/xml file cache related… just want to know…

Need help.

Anyone else just see scrollbars, but no photos (on this page too)?

I’ve been using this component for some time, and it was working fine.
Now all of a sudden it shows the scroll bars but no pictures.

Mac/Safari is the only browser it works in.

What’s up?

First I have to say THIS IS AMAZING! It was easy to use, the directions you provided made it even easier to understand everything! Thank you so much! I have 1 question, on top of the images I would like to add text to display the title of the image, how would i add text above each image in the xml file?

Hi Timy,
They will start from as soon as they finish loading, so it's impossible to make them load at exactly the same time. If you had 2 of them within the one swf file, then I think they would be in synch, but you'd need to make a copy of the "scrollerSlideshow" movieclip and in the copy edit the xml location so they're not both loading the same xml file.

I actually have a version of my horizontal scroller slideshow that lets you have multiple rows and columns of images within the one scroller, so maybe something like that is what you are needing? I haven't had a chance to upload it here for sale, but if you email me I can show you a sample of it.

Nellie
