XML Guestbook



This is a XML based guestbook, you don't need a database for this to work.

Copy from the download file the index.swf, sendMessage.php, data.xml on the server where you need this guestbook and it will work.

You can read in the help.txt, which you will find in the downloaded files, how to set it up. Also, you can see a working example here http://www.webdesign-flash.ro/p/guests/.

Make sure you check the xml on the server.
I think the file can’t write the file and is only loading the data one time.
After saving sme message, open the xml from the server and look if you have any record saved there, if not then is a server problem…

brilliant guestbook, one problem though is that it does not seem to be saving any messages, every time the page is revisited the guest book is empty again.
i have set the write privileges on the folder as you advised but this has not helped any.
do you have any advice for me please.

Could you please confirm how best to change the background color from white to black?

You can change that in the html embeding code, I’m not sure how but I think you need to set up wmode=“transparent”. Do some google research about this.


Another way you can do this(this is the easiest way) is to open the fla and change background color then export the .swf again.

Could you please confirm how best to change the background color upon which the guestbook appears? I would like to match it to the background color of my website. Currently it appears white.
