Payment Rates

topWelcome Rate for New Authors

The Welcome Rate is available until May 31th, 2008.

All new authors, Flash Developers or Interactive Design Agencies, can reach directly to the maximum 60% fixed rate for three months if they are making at least $500 total sales in their first 30 days of membership.

After the 3 month period every author’s rate will be established automatically according to our payment rates table. You can read more about payment rates below.

Welcome rate has priority over all payment rates presented below.

topBasic Rate (40%)

Our rates are flexible and vary from 40% to 60%.
You can earn up to 60% of every item sold if you are selling exclusively through FlashComponents, and if you reach specific sales amounts.

If you are a regular FlashComponents.net Author, when you sell items through the site you earn 40% of every item sold. This amount accumulates in your account until you withdraw it, either into MoneyBookers or into a PayPal account.

topSell Exclusively through FlashComponents (+10%)

If you agree to sell some products exclusively through the FlashComponents site (these items appear here and nowhere else), then the rate of payment increases up to 10%, depending on how many exclusive and non exclusive products you have.

Your product becomes exclusive when you check the Exclusive Product option, and you agree to be bound by the content of the Legal Act.

For example, if you have 10 products which are exclusive products, then you receive the maximum of 10% for exclusivity. If you have 5 exclusive products and 5 non exclusive products, you will receive 5% for exclusivity from the total of 10% offered exclusively and so on. The more exclusive products you have, the bigger your exclusivity percentage will be.

topSales amounts (+10%)

While your sales volume is increasing you are gaining percentage points.

The sales amount percentage adds to your basic rate, and is unaffected by the exclusivity percentage.

The sales amount - percentage table looks like this:

$100-$500
1%
$501-$1,000
2%
$1,001-$1,500
3%
$1,501-$2,000
4%
$2,001-$3,000
5%
$3,001-$4,000
6%
$4,001-$5,000
7%
$5,001-$6,000
8%
$6,001-$8,000
9%
$8,001-$10,000+
10%

Examples:

If you have accumulated 10% exclusivity percentage you will receive 40% + 10% = 50% of every sale.
If you have accumulated 10% exclusivity percentage and 10% sales amount percentage you will receive 40% + 10% + 10% = 60% of every sale.

These are the rates as of the October 22th, 2007.

topPayment procedure

Unless you choose to close your account with us, payment will occur in the following manner, depending on the level of sales you are entitled to:

If you accumulate over USD $50.00, you can have the amount credited to your PayPal or Moneybookers account.

If you choose Moneybookers as a payment option then it might concern you two issues:

1. The payment to your Moneybookers account can be made in a maximum of three weeks after you make the withdraw request. This is a standard procedure for Flash Components Network in our collaboration with Moneybookers.

2. FlashComponents.net retains 5% from the total amount, representing commissions (commission of Moneybookers and other expenses).

We strongly recommend you to choose PayPal because in this case you won't lose the 5% and the payment occurs in up to two weeks from the withdraw request moment.

topCopyright Policy

In case one of your components has been reported for copyright violation and it is discovered to be a valid infringement upon investigation, the following penalties will be applied:

1. If this is your first reported component, then:

1.1.The file in case will be removed from FlashComponents.net.

1.2. You will be forbidden to access your author account for a period of two weeks.

1.3.You will pay a $300 fine, detained from your sales.*

1.4. The profit generated from the sales of the product(s) reported for copyright violation will be detained.*

1.5. All of your other components from the website will continue to be sold.

*In case you don't have that amount in your account, it will be detained from the sale of your other products.

2. If this is your second deflection, then all the penalties from 1. will be applied, with the mention that instead of a $300 fine, you will pay a $1000 fine, detained from your sales.

Please read carefully the definition of copyright for a better understanding.

"Copyright is a form of intellectual property that gives the author of an original work exclusive right for a certain time period in relation to that work, including its publication, distribution and adaptation, after which time the work is said to enter the public domain. [...] Some jurisdictions also recognize "moral rights" of the creator of a work, such as the right to be credited for the work. Copyright is described under the umbrella term intellectual property along with patents and trademarks.[...] Copyright has been internationally standardized, lasting between fifty to a hundred years from the author's death, or a shorter period for anonymous or corporate authorship. [...] Generally, copyright is enforced as a civil matter, though some jurisdictions do apply criminal sanctions." You can find the full definition on Wikipedia.

Regarding the Flash creations, copyright applies to both design and source code of the creation. Therefore, if the design idea or the functionality of the creation or both are copied, then we consider that we're dealing with a copyright infringement case. We also consider copyright infringement if the design or the functionality of the Flash product resemble in a high percentage with another design product or interactive design product created before.

Depending on the gravity of the copyright infringement, the author can be excluded from the FlashComponents.net Network. In case the amounts mentioned above cannot be recuperated from the author's sales, by accepting the website's terms and conditions, the author is obliged to pay all the penalties himself, otherwise we will take legal actions to recover the debts.

The author must continue with his normal activity, and it case he refuses to offer support to his current customers, the penalty is twice as big as the above mentioned penalties. If the author is not excluded from the FlashComponents.net Network, he then has the right to continue uploading his components to our website.

Selling Issues

topSelling process

Please follow the next steps to be able to sell products on FlashComponents.net:

1. Register

For you to sell products on FlashComponents.net, first you have to be a member. Click on the “Sign up” button in the right top of the FlashComponents.net site. Then you will be able to promote your products to attract buyers.

2. Add products for sale

You can add specific information regarding your components anytime you want. Also will have a unique "User Profile" where you can list general information about your products. The new added components will be sent to the interested buyers via alerts chosen by them.

topAdd components

When adding products, you have to respect certain communication rules we observed that attracts more customers and we wish to bring them to your knowledge.

1)   The product image: is it important to add? An image is worth more than a thousand words. Over 85% of clients choose the products with images and samples available.
The product image should be equally sided. If it isn’t, FlashComponents will calibrate it automatically without any effort from your side, all you have to do is add it.
The images should be on a white or neutral background. If they aren’t it’s not a problem. FlashComponents will take care of this too.

2)   Price: Every product should have a price. The consumers are, as you know, very sensitive to price,  but at the same time frustrated if they can’t find it.

3)   Key-words: They are necessary because 75% of the users use the “Search” option, and they search for certain key-words.

4)   Category: Use a relevant category for specific products. The Component should be in the exact category where users expect to find.

5)   Product Description: in conjunction with the classification information above, the detailed description of a product will help to give a general overview of the presented product (overview, supported flash versions, features, technical specifications …etc, all are important). And don’t forget: tell what the product will do, but the most important thing is why it is better than other products from the same category.

6)   Add online examples, make downloadable trial versions of the component available, and complete the technical specifications in the section Help&Support.

topComponent status

To edit the components go to “My account”. In “Product status” in the section “My components” you can view the status of the components in real time. They are classified in 3 categories:
• Rejected – those are the components rejected by FlashComponents.net and which require editing from you.
• Pending – the components that are going through the approval process by FlashComponents.net.
• Approved - Online – those are the components that are approved and are visible on the FlashComponents.net website.

Important:  Please take in note that only the components that are in the sections “Rejected” and “Approved” can be edited or deleted.

topLicenses

The FlashComponents.net authors can choose from three types of predefined licenses for their products and  they can adjust the usage terms:

1. Regular / Personal License

By purchasing and downloading this Flash file, you are entitled, as buyer, to use it in an unlimited number of websites and other multimedia projects, personal and client work. You may not redistribute / resell the functionality provided with the purchased product without the author's and / or FlashComponents.net written permission, but you may modify its content. In case you want to use the product for a commercial project then you will have to buy the 'Commercial License'.

2. Single Commercial License

By purchasing this license, you are entitled to use the product in one commercial project (website, CD-ROM, offline presentation etc). You may not redistribute the product but you may modify its contents. In case you want to use the product in multiple commercial websites, then you will have to buy the 'Multiple License'.

3. Multiple Commercial License

By purchasing this license you are entitled to use the product in multiple commercial projects (websites, CD-ROMS, offline presentations etc). You may not redistribute it but you may modify its contents. You may not redistribute the functionality provided with the purchased product without the author's and / or FlashComponents.net written permission.

What's the difference between the Personal and Commercial License?

With Personal License, you can use the software for non-commercial purposes in non-business, non commercial environment.

With Commercial License, you (individual) can use the software in business, academic, or government environment.

topLicense Upgrade Prices

You can choose different upgrade prices for every type of license: Regular, Single and Multiple Commercial. You can set the prices from your account, in the Upgrade Amount box of your components' description. This feature will help you set the upgrade price you believe is convenient for you for each of the three licenses. If you only set an upgrade price for the Regular license, then the prices for the other two licenses will be automatically set. If you set "zero" for an upgrade price of a license then the upgrade for that specific license will be free.

topInvoices and Taxes

The FlashComponent.net marketplace is only an intermediate between authors and buyers, so we shall not be held responsible for issuing or remitting formal invoices to the buyers. Under the terms of the Legal Act, the author must make invoices available to the buyers. This applies to self-employer persons that can also legally issue bills. Therefore, we now provide authors with an arrangement for issuing bills to customers.

Authors have the possibility, from their personal accounts, to choose between two options:

- "Make bills available to the buyers": invoices will be available for download in both the author and the buyer's accounts;

- "I will send my own bills to the buyers": buyers will have to send an e-mail to the authors requesting for invoices.

Numbering in the invoices is continuous and consecutive. Invoices will contain the names of the products sold, the quantity, invoice amount, name, and other identifying information of both authors and buyers. The selling invoices generated automatically by our system will be available in your FlashComponents.net account (My account-> Financial-> Invoices-> For Buyers/ For Me). Invoices can be printed and/or saved in a .pdf format.
