1.Open a new file inside your flash IDE and choose "Flash File(ActionScript 3.0)"

2.From the Tools panel (CTRL + F2) select the Text Tool (T).

3.Create a text field by dragging a square on the stage.

4.Name the text object "_textField" so we can refer to it later. alt text
